How to adjust your settings
What are the pros and cons to using one versus the other?
In the Website Builder, there are two ways to display individual inventory items: Page view or Modal view.
What's the difference between displaying Inventory in a Page or a Modal view?
Modal
With the Modal setting, inventory is displayed front-and-center and a bit larger than it would be with the Page setting. The inventory's details are displayed at the bottom of the modal. Notes on the inventory will not be visible in this setting.
Page
Inventory works displayed in a Page view displays a bit more information available to viewers.
In the Page view, you can display and customize Notes, but the Modal setting does not. The Notes will be displayed to the right of the inventory item on full screens.
How to adjust your Details Display for inventory:
You'll first need to navigate to the Website Builder:
The Page and Modal view settings are adjustable on any inventory block within your website. Depending on the specific inventory block you want to adjust, you will need to navigate to the page that this inventory block lives on. In this example, I'm going to use the inventory block that lives on the Artist Profile page template.
Once on your Artist Profile page template, click on your Inventory block, and you should see your inventory block settings appear to the right:
NOTE: Depending on how your Artist Profile Page Template is set up, you may need to access your inventory block based on the Tabbed Structure this block lives in. You can see this example in the .gif below.
After clicking on your Inventory block, scroll down on the Design tab to the Details Display drop down option and here is where you can adjust your view from Page to Modal or Modal to Page:
Next, click the blue SAVE button in the top-right corner of the builder on each page to ensure this adjustment gets made for your template.
What are the pros and cons to using one versus the other?
Both Page and Modal Detail Display views are great for your website visitor experience, but depending on the design and functions you're looking to have for your site, one may work better than another.
PROS
Page: display Inventory Notes, display the Virtual Install option, create a true link for the inventory item for SEO.
Modal: scroll between inventory, seamless (pageless view) and experience for website viewer
CONS
Page: no ability to scroll between inventory records on the page
Modal: no ability to display inventory notes, less space for inventory meta details (Title / Artist Name / Medium / Dimensions / Price, etc...), no ability to display Virtual Install functionality, no individual link is available for the inventory item for search engines to crawl for SEO
