[Data Import](https://help.artcloud.com/knowledge/artcloud-for-artists?hsLang=en-us#data-import) July 15, 2026 # Import your Inventory ## Seamlessly import your inventory into your ArtCloud account After your account has been established, it makes sense to add new inventory pieces in one at time, but if you're new to ArtCloud, we highly recommend importing your inventory through a .CSV upload. You also have the option to [migrate your data from another system](https://help.artcld.com/knowledge/manage-your-inventory/data-migration/leaving-your-old-system). #### ArtCloud's Inventory import template At ArtCloud, we use .csv files (Comma Separated Value - these are typically opened by spreadsheet editors like **Microsoft Excel**, **Numbers** for Mac, or **Calc** by LibreOffice) to import inventory, contacts, and invoices. In ArtCloud's importer, column titles determine where the data in that column will be assigned when it is imported. For example, if you'd like to designate a column of your CSV to populate a field that shows the date that you purchased or acquired an inventory item, you would change whatever column title in your CSV you would like to represent that data (perhaps in your system, it is called **purchase\_date**) into **acquisition\_date**. This article will go more into depth on this later, but for now, if you'd like to know what columns ArtCloud uses, you can download our pre-made **Inventory Import Template** to make importing to ArtCloud easier by navigating to your [Settings](https://pro.artcld.com/#/settings/general) and clicking on the **Imports** tab. **NOTE:** To learn how to use our Inventory Import Template, follow [this helpful article](https://help.artcld.com/en/knowledge/inventory-migration-template). ### How do I import inventory data? To import your data, head over the **Inventory** tab and hit the **Import** button. ![mkt 7](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/mkt%207.png?width=682&name=mkt%207.png) From there, select **New Import**. ![3](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/3.png?width=687&name=3.png) Next, choose to import a **CSV** (Comma Separated Values, or a spreadsheet document). ![4-2](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/4-2.png?width=499&name=4-2.png)Then select the **Inventory** option. ![5](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/5.png?width=464&name=5.png)You'll then be prompted to pick a CSV file to import. You can either click on the large button with the arrow, or drag a file into the button. ![6-4](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/6-4.png?width=562&name=6-4.png)Next, you'll be taken to our **Match Columns** screen. As stated earlier, in ArtCloud, [we have a list of fields that ArtCloud is able to accept as data](https://help.artcld.com/en/knowledge/inventory-migration-template). For example, if you'd like to designate a column of your CSV to populate a field that shows the date that you purchased or acquired an inventory item, you would scroll down to the **acquisition\_date** field and match whatever column title in your CSV you would like to represent that data (perhaps in your system, it is called **purchase\_date**). **NOTE:** Each custom field can only be assigned to an ArtCloud label **once**. ![7](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/7.png?width=687&name=7.png) Unmatched columns (columns that either do not exist in your document or have not been assigned) are at the top of your page. Please choose a property to assign one of the fields to; the rest will follow suit based on where you assign the first field. You can hit **Continue** to see how the platform is registering your columns and **BACK** to continue to edit. ![8](https://help.artcloud.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Knowledge%20Base%20Import/8.png?width=686&name=8.png)Automatically matched columns (columns whose names happen to match the names of ArtCloud's field names) are at the bottom. Check these thoroughly before importing. ### How do I import artwork images? For new customers, ArtCloud's migration team will help you import your images. Once you've uploaded your .CSV file, contact [support@artcld.com](mailto:support@artcld.com) for next steps. Please note this service is only available for paying, active subscriptions. Only the first image import is complimentary; additional imports can be done for a fee.
