Tax Rates

Configuring tax rates in Account Settings saves you from manually entering taxes on every invoice. ArtCloud supports sales, GST, and VAT taxes, each available as inclusive or exclusive.

To manage tax rates, navigate to Account Settings >> Locations. Open a location profile and click the Tax Rates tab.

Note: If you have multiple locations in your ArtCloud account, manage tax rates on each location's profile. ArtCloud applies taxes according to the location selected on an invoice. Read more about multiple locations here: Add Multiple Business Locations.

Default Tax Type

The Default Tax Type dropdown determines what tax type automatically applies to Invoice Records.

For example, when the default tax type is set to "Sales," items on an invoice will automatically have a sales tax structure. If the default type is "VAT Inclusive," items on an invoice will have a VAT inclusive structure.

Add Tax Rates

Follow this step-by-step guide to add a new tax rate:

  • Check the Default box to apply the tax rate to all invoices by default.

  • Click the blue pencil icon to edit a tax rate.

  • Use the Active toggle to control the tax's status. Inactive taxes can't be applied to invoices.

  • Click the red trashcan icon to delete a tax rate.

Note: You cannot delete tax rates used on invoices in the account. Make the tax rate inactive instead.

Taxes on Invoices

A new Invoice Record automatically applies the default tax type to invoice items and adds any default tax rates to the invoice total.

Use the Tax dropdown on the invoice items to override the default tax type.
