What is Media Linking?

Since Page Templates determine the appearance of all Artist, Inventory, and Exhibition pages, a static media block placed on a templated page will display all media posts. However, Media Linking allows users to specify the media posts that display on certain pages.

Linking media posts will associate posts with a particular Artist, Inventory, or Exhibition. In the example below, the Artist, Inventory, and Exhibition fields associate the media post with Patrice Bowen, Outside, and "Sunset Abstracted," respectively. Given that the Artist, Inventory, and Exhibition templates have a Media block, only this media post will show on the individual pages for Patrice Bowen, Outside, and "Sunset Abstracted."

What is the difference between Media and Blogs?

While media and blogs in ArtCloud function similarly but have different uses. Media posts immediately show the content, and blog posts preview the content that links to another page.

Media posts work best for single visual items, like an image or video, and blog posts work best for written or external content.

Example

In this example, I use Media Linking to display media posts about particular artists on the Artist Profile template. When I add a Media block to the Artist Profile template, only the media posts I link to the artist will appear on the individual artist profile pages. The process also applies to Inventory and Exhibitions.
