Sharing Inventory with Artists
When you invite an artist to ArtCloud, ArtCloud transfers all inventory in your gallery account attributed to that artist to their new Artist Account. This transfer gallery-to-artist transfer only happens once. Artists will consign inventory to your gallery for future inventory sharing.
Receiving a Consignment
When an artist sends a Gallery Consignment, you receive a notification, and ArtCloud creates a new Consignment Record. You can accept or deny the consignment. When you accept, ArtCloud creates Inventory Records for each item in the consignment.

Changes to consigned Inventory Records in your gallery's account won't update in the artist's account. Inform artists of any important changes to consigned inventory.
Note: You cannot delete the artist's consignment after accepting their inventory.
Selling Consigned Inventory
When you place a consigned piece on an Invoice Record and close the invoice, ArtCloud notifies the artist of the sale. In the artist's account, the item's status updates to inactive, and the location changes from "On consignment to [gallery name]" to "Sold by [gallery name]." Communicate with the artist about post-sale logistics.
Returning Inventory
ArtCloud Gallery Accounts cannot directly return inventory to Artist Accounts. Instead, create an Inventory Return Consignment to mark the inventory as "Returned to Artist." The Inventory Return won't affect the item in the artist's account. Coordinate with your artist to update the location in their Artist Account.

Are the new Inventory Records identical in both accounts?
Some fields differ between the artist and gallery accounts for consigned inventory:
- The location in your gallery account shows "gallery." On the artist account, the location is "On Consignment to [gallery name]."
- Inventory numbers differ between accounts according to each account's numbering system.
- The acquisition date in the gallery account is the consignment acceptance day. The acquisition date in the artist account doesn't change.
What happens if I edit consigned inventory?
Edits to consigned inventory in your account won't update in the artist's account, and edits the artist makes won't update in your gallery account. Communicate with your artists about changes to consigned inventory in either account.
