Create a Gallery Consignment
FAQs

ArtCloud Artist Accounts can send and receive inventory from connected Gallery Accounts. Connected inventory prompts changes between the two accounts.

Create a Gallery Consignment

Consignment Records include your selected Inventory Records and blank fields for you to fill in more details. Pick from three places to create a Gallery Consignments in your ArtCloud Artist Account.

1. Inventory Dashboard

2. Quicklist Tab

3. Consignment Tab

Note: A Gallery Consignment logs artworks you send to a gallery that represents you. An Inventory Return logs artworks that a gallery returns to your inventory. Creating both works the same in ArtCloud.

FAQs

Does the gallery need an ArtCloud Gallery Account?

Yes. The recipient gallery needs an ArtCloud Gallery Account. Connect your ArtCloud Artist Account with an ArtCloud Gallery Account to share inventory.

Invite a gallery to ArtCloud in the Galleries tab. Read more here: Add a Gallery Connection.

What happens when a gallery receives my consignment?

ArtCloud creates a new Consignment Record in the Gallery Account. The gallery can accept or deny the consignment. After accepting, ArtCloud creates new Inventory Records for the consigned works in the Gallery Account.

What information transfers to the gallery?

Not all information from your Inventory Record transfers to the new record in the Gallery Account. Here's what doesn't transfer:

  • Signature Placement
  • Tags
  • Provenance
  • Private Notes
  • Insurance Value
  • Shipping Prive
  • Financial Notes
  • Expenses
  • History

Does the gallery see all my inventory information?

Some fields differ between the artist and gallery accounts for consigned inventory:

  • The location in your artist account shows "On Consignment to [gallery name]." On the gallery account, the location is "gallery."
  • Inventory numbers differ between accounts according to each account's numbering system.
  • The acquisition date in the gallery account is the consignment acceptance day. The acquisition date in the artist account doesn't change.

What happens if I edit consigned inventory?

Edits to consigned inventory in your account won't update in the gallery's account, and edits the gallery makes won't update in your artist account.

We recommend communicating often about any changes to consigned inventory in either account.

Note: ArtCloud doesn't prevent you from consigning sold inventory. Make sure to communicate the status of any consigned inventory with your gallery.

What happens if the gallery account sells my piece?

When the gallery places your consigned piece on an Invoice Record and closes the invoice, you'll receive a notification that the gallery sold the consigned inventory. The location in your Artist Account updates to "Sold by [gallery name]," and status changes to inactive.
