The Stripe M2 is a credit card reader that is connected with ArtCloud for added ease of use and card security. This reader is only iOS compatible at this time. You will need to use the iOS ArtCloud Manager App in order to process the sale with this reader.

What is the Stripe M2 reader? How does it work?

The Stripe M2 reader is a card reader (hardware) that can be connected to an iOS device using ArtCloud's Manager app in order to process payments on invoices when the credit card is present. You can tap and insert credit cards with a chip to process the payment.

The Stripe M2 reader connects to your iOS device via Bluetooth.

Do I need to integrate my account with Stripe to use the Stripe M2 reader?

Yes. You will need to have Stripe Payment Processing integrated on your account. If you already have Stripe integrated on your ArtCloud account, then you're all set.

How do I order the Stripe M2 reader? 

For customers with a Stripe Express integration (most customers, without your own separate Stripe account), you will need to order a Stripe M2 reader through ArtCloud at this time.

You can order a Stripe M2 reader with the following order form. The reader is $60 USD plus $13 USD shipping and local sales tax. Currently, the Stripe M2 reader hardware can only be shipped to locations in the continental U.S. and Hawaii.  Legacy Stripe Standard customers can order directly through Stripe.

I've just received the Stripe M2 reader in the mail. What now?

When you receive your Stripe M2 reader, you can connect this to your iOS device directly. Make sure your Bluetooth on the iOS device (iPhone / iPad) is turned on and available for this reader to find.

How do I use this reader to process a sale on my iPhone/iPad?

Since this M2 reader connects to your iOS device (iPhone / iPad) via Bluetooth, you can use this reader immediately when looking to process a sale on the invoice. Open up the ArtCloud Manager app on your phone or tablet and create an invoice.

When you're ready to accept payment, click on the payments tab then on the terminal option. You should see a button for 'Register Stripe Terminal':


You will get taken to a new screen to then add this reader on the account. Click on the plus button in the top right corner:

Fill out the location details on this screen, and please make sure to enter the value US in the country field. This is mandatory. Hit save in the top right corner after filling out these details.

You'll then see an option to select the reader by the Display Name you entered in the previous screen. Select this name and click Register.

Your Stripe M2 reader is now connected! You're ready to process payment. Click on the 'Submit Payment' button and you'll see a Swipe / Insert / Tap modal pop up that will wait for you to use the credit card.

             

Where do I see my sales information once I use the Stripe M2 reader to enter the credit card details?

The Stripe M2 reader will process payment on invoices in the same capacity that processing payments via Stripe on Desktop does. You can see your sales in your ArtCloud account in your Sales Over Time report, and you can see the Stripe payments recorded in the account on the Payments report. You can see how long a payment will take to be paid out as well.

What are the processing fees associated with Card-Present transactions via this Stripe M2 reader?

Card present rates are typically slightly less than card-not-present rates, and will only be applied to those transactions where the card is physically present and swiped, inserted or tapped via the Stripe M2 reader. What if I have a legacy Stripe Standard account integration? 

Stripe Standard accounts are those that were set up independently between you and Stripe, not created through the ArtCloud platform.

As with all Stripe Standard accounts, your rates are set directly between you and Stripe. Please contact Stripe to confirm your rates with the M2 reader. Your application fees with ArtCloud remain the same.
